Jeremy Lin will have options this coming NBA free agency with multiple teams interested in the former Harvard University standout. That includes a possible reunion with the New York Knicks though Lin believes that is improbable for the coming season.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in China, Lin touched on a potential return to New York. He did not rule out a possible return to the place where “Linsanity” was born, saying “never say never”, Sports Illustrated reported.

Lin is up-to-date with the recent developments, including the trade involving the Knicks and Derrick Rose. With the former MVP on board, Lin will likely see himself spending more time on the bench and less time on the court.

As reported in a previous post, Lin opted out of his contract with the Charlotte Hornets to test the NBA waters and hopefully get better pay. This doesn’t mean that he is shutting the door on the Hornets and is in fact hopeful of being re-signed.

Lin was able to revive his career after two forgettable stints with the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite being relegated to a sixth man role, he was able to fit in perfectly to the system of head coach Steve Clifford.

Already 27, Lin knows that he is at the prime of his NBA career. Though he prefers to re-sign with the Charlotte Hornets, it all depends if the team will have ample cap space to accommodate him in the off season.

The Hornets want to re-sign Lin but the problem right now is that they have other players on the priority list. That includes Nicolas Batum and Marvin Williams, two players expected to be offered max contracts.

Depending on what is left on their salary space, the Hornets fear that they may not have enough to offer Lin by the time they are finished working on Batum and Williams, according to ESPN. The scenarios differ once teams interested in Lin start to pitch their offers.

Lin will start meeting with at least three teams beginning July 1. All this will take place at his home at Palo Alto, which the Hornets will likely monitor.
