Pau Gasol could end up joining Kevin Durant this summer, with the Spaniard waiting for the OKC Thunder star's decision before mulling his options in free agency.

Several teams like the Portland Trailblazers and Toronto Raptors have shown interests in signing Gasol, who is one of the few available big men in the market. However, Gasol is expected to wait for Durant's decision before considering his next destination, according to Mike Richman of The Oregonian.

Gasol, who is entering his 16th NBA season, is likely to join a team that could offer him a chance to win another NBA championships before the 35-year-old Spaniard's window closes. While it is undetermined where Gasol ends up, there is a growing sense the two-time NBA champion could follow wherever Durant lands. That means teams like the Celtics, Clippers, Heat, Thunder, Spurs and Warriors are all possible destination for the Spaniard.

There is no better place for Gasol to win another title than teaming up with one of the best players in the league. Surely, there are other potential destinations for Gasol like the Cavaliers in the East or the Grizzlies, who have seemingly become a legit title contender after securing Mike Conley and Chandler Parsons. However, the list of teams Durant would prefer offer more on the table than any other teams in the league.

The Celtics, after acquiring Al Horford could be the frontrunner to land prized free agent Durant. A team consisting of two stars should bolt the Celtics into title contention, but adding a veteran like Gasol would make it even more realistic for Boston to hang an 18th championship banner.

Likewise, the Warriors landing Durant would also establish Golden State as clear favorites to win the title next season. Adding Durant to a lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green would cause real nightmares to other rivals, but bringing in Gasol would fill any gaping hole the potential roster has.

Ditto for Heat, who remain a favorite in the East after retaining rising star Hassan Whiteside. With Dwyane Wade possibly leaving South Beach, the Heat, if they sign Durant, could add another scorer in Gasol.

The Clippers and Spurs, two Western Conference powerhouses would change the NBA landscape by adding Durant. Either of the two teams could also use a skilled big man to bolster their respective lineup, considering they are able to sign Durant.

It remains to be seen whether Gasol would truly consider following Durant to the latter's next destination. But NBA fans may find out soon as Durant announces his decision in the next few days.

"Kevin Durant has told the clubs he is meeting with in the Hamptons that his free-agency decision will be made within the next 24-36 hours, according to league sources," ESPN's Chris Broussard reported.
