On Wednesday, there were reports that fans of “Descendants of the Sun” in North Korea were risking their lives by watching the 16-episode Hallyu on smuggled DVDs and USBs. The communist country’s leader has banned those shows and had ordered the execution of persons who violated the prohibition.

Interest in dramas that starred Song Joong-ki has surged after the airing of “Descendants of the Sun” that even a movie he is shooting, “Battleship Island,” is being anticipated by fans. In June, a Chinese media outlet even reported that the actor would likely be the lead star of an upcoming Chinese drama, "Honey, the Scent of Love."

The report claimed that after shooting “Battleship Island,” Soong Jong-ki will next film the Chinese drama that is allegedly being produced by NEW which made “Descendant of the Sun.” But AllKpop reported that Blossom Entertainment, the agency of the actor, denied the rumor.

However, Blossom clarified in a statement that “Aside from ‘Battleship Island, no other projects have been confirmed. [Song Joong Ki] is currently receiving a lot of offers from both Korea and China but he hasn’t decided on any project. We have to look more carefully into the offer from ‘Honey, the Scent of Love.’”

A check with the entertainment website Upcoming CDrama likewise showed no listing of a program with that title. The portal lists 24 Chinese dramas with 2016 and 2017 as target premiere dates.

The list includes “So Young” from Dragon TV, “Tornado Girl” from Hunan TV, “Singing All Along,” from JSTV, “Memory Lost” from iQiyi” and “When A Snail Falls in Love” from QQ.
