"Game of Thrones" season 6 has come to an end and a long wait needs to be endured to feast on the season 7 drama. However, there is no dearth of theories to keep one's minds engaged. While some are purely figments of imagination some are altered versions of Martin's novel.

Starting off from the book, the most interesting theory is that Sam will root for the Targaryen cause. The book has him sent to Maester Aemon Targaryen for training, who makes a dying request to him to convince the forces at Castle Black to support the claim of his descendant Daenerys. Blastr states that the show has diverged from the plot, but now that Sam is at the library and his comrade Jon Snow being a Targaryen almost confirmed, it could be that he rallies support for the Targaryen cause.

Another theory talks about Littlefinger making shrewd attempts at grabbing the Iron Throne and also securing Winterfell by marrying Sansa. The show has already shown his motivations and the book also talks about Sansa becoming heir to both the Vale and Winterfell through Littlefinger's machinations. The coming season may bring up this element and play along it.

The last theory relates to Cersei and Jaime in which the latter grows disillusioned with Cersei and forsakes her for good. Season 6 finale hinted at it through Cersei's coronation scene. The disdainful look on Jaime's face said it all. As for the book, it talks of Jaime burning Cersei's letter in which she asks him to rescue her from the Faith Militant. Chances are high that season 7 will show him doing something similar.

Apart from these theories, there are numerous others ranging from Sansa being pregnant with Ramsay's child to Jon Snow marrying her in season 7. A crazy theory also talks of Varys being a merman who wants to melt the North through Daenerys' dragons. There is talk of Ned Stark coming back too, according to Cosmopolitan.

Well, when it comes to the HBO classic, there is no limit to the imagination of the fans. The more we get, the merrier it feels.
