"Pokémon Go" has just launched for both iOS and Android devices, with many fans dashing to download and start their Pokémon hunts. However, many have struggled to catch up with the game, especially when it comes to catching Pokémon and finding pokestops and Pokémon Gyms.
According to iDigital Times, players are advised to follow certain guides in order to get along with the gameplay and become the Pokémon training masters they desire. Here is a beginner guide to mastering the tips and tricks:
First of all, "Pokémon Go" players will have to customize their trainer just after entering the game. They have to name their it and pick the beginner Pokémon of choice.
The classic Gen 1 starters available include Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. After catching the first Pokémon, "Pokémon Go" will then adapt Google Maps and use the device's GPS to show landmarks like Pokestops and Gyms.
Players will only access the land marks when they get closer to such locations. To check the nearest Pokémon, players must pull up the menu at the bottom right corner of the screen. Their experience level as trainers will then level up and increase their trainer expertise as they travel to catch the Pokémon.
To catch Pokémon, players must acknowledge the traits that influence the catchability of Pokémon. These include Poke Ball type, Pokémon's CP level and throwing technique, among others. Players will, therefore, need to perfect their throwing techniques by angling the force behind each throw.
To do so, players can flick the ball on the touchscreen and direct it towards the Pokémon. If AR is on, they can try centering the Pokémon on the screen while keeping the device steady. It is advisable for a player to keep their AR switched off for easier experience.
At a Pokémon's location, the player should see a small green ring inside a circle. They are required to throw the Poke Ball when this ring is smallest.
The type of Pokémon will be determined with the environment. For example, water Pokémon will be found near water bodies. A player can further employ the use of item Incense to draw the Pokémon towards them for about 30 minutes.
After catching Pokémon, a player will have to check its traits, which will determine its ability and what it can do. For easier comprehension, "Pokémon Go" features Command Points (CP), which allow users to understand the fighting style of Pokémon.
Since a trainer with a higher level will get higher CP Pokémon, there will be need for training and leveling up. Players must use Stardust, which they would have received when capturing, to train their Pokémon.
For collection of eggs and other "Pokémon Go" items, the players will have to access PokeStops. These areas will be highlighted by blue squares in the game map. On arrival at the PokeStop, the players will have to spin the medal to receive the items.
Similarly, level 5 players will access Pokémon Gyms in the same way as PokeStops. According to CNET, Pokémon gyms are battle Gyms where players in teams such as Red, Blue, or Yellow will join to battle their opponent's Pokémon.
Also to note, Pokémon in "Pokémon Go" can get damaged during battles. When this happens, the player will have to use special items to heal and revive them.
