At last, Gildarts made his return after being out on a long journey. He will face God Serena while other Fairy Tail members will go head to head against the revived members of the Spriggan 12.
Early "Fairy Tail" chapter 496 spoilers were leaked courtesy of Manga Sail and the chapter will begin with Gildarts telling Natsu and the gang to go ahead as he will deal with God Serena. As they advance, they were stopped by other Spriggan members in Ajeel, Jacob, Wahl and Bradman. Elfman and Lisanna will face Ajeel, while Mirajane will square off against Jacob. Meanwhile, Rogue and Minerva will battle both Wahl and Bradman.
God Serena will be immediately defeated by Gildarts upon using his Empyrean technique. He used the same magic during the Tenrou Island arc against Grimoire Heart's Bluenote. Also, Lisanna and Elfman will showcase some of their transformation techniques and there is a possibility that they will unveil their ultimate forms similar to what Mirajane did when she was up against Irene's subordinates.
Fans over at Reddit believe that in the next chapter, it will be Gray Fullbuster who will be up against Invel, as both characters are Ice Magic users and are strategic combatants as well. Also, Gildarts will wreak havoc against Spriggan members but will later on find his match against Acnologia, who is responsible for the loss of his left arm and leg.
With how Gildarts disposed of God Serena, who is considered as the strongest wizard in Fiore before he defected to the Alvarez Empire, fans believe that he had a huge power-up and can now go toe to toe against Acnologia.
As a quick refresher on the previous chapter, Natsu and Erza decided to face the Alvarez Empire head on despite lacking allies. Fortunately, reinforcements arrived very soon and they were able to advance through the enemy ranks until they encountered God Serena.
