Will Google press the Nexus 2016 launch button this August? There are two signs that the next Nexus release date is happening soon - one is the expected rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat in the month and the discounted price of the near-stock Android flagship HTC 10 that sells now with $100 off.

The device is made by HTC, which is rumored as the chosen Nexus 2016 builder. The Taiwanese company will reportedly assemble two Stock Android smartphones for Google and they are known for now as Nexus Sailfish (S1) and Marlin (M1), both powered by Snapdragon 821 and 4GB of RAM.

But before unleashing the sequels to the Nexus 2015, HTC appears on a mission to speed the sale of its reported slow-moving HTC 10, according to 9to5Google. The device can now be bought directly from HTC or partner carriers with $100 discount or credit.

The latter will benefit Android fans who already snapped up the HTC 10. The same report said that they will need to register by heading to HTC's official site before the end of August to claim the $100 gift card, which can then be used to purchase HTC 10 accessories.

For new buyers, the price off automatically applies, which will make the HTC 10 more compelling with a reduced sticker price of $499. And the deal on the table is nothing to sneer at as the 2016 HTC flagship counts as among the best to come out this year with reviewers praising the device for its high-end specifications and an Android render that is close to the vanilla state.

Or Android fans can pass up on the deal and look to the next Nexus release instead, which if rumors are to be believed will happen before the close of the month. The speculation is based on the understanding that Google will let out the new Android operating system in the next few weeks and with it the showcase device - none other than the Nexus 2016.

HTC's Nexus will slide out of the box showing off the new things stuffed by Google with Android Nougat. A Nexus Launcher, in fact, for the OS has been leaked out and ready to download, providing a glimpse of the new Nexus-Nougat setting that will greet Android fans.

Take note, however, that while there are indicators to say the Google Nexus 2016 release date is happening soon, a new report from Droid Life is claiming that the next Nexus will not touchdown until October 4, and the first new Android phone to rock Nougat 7.0 is the phablet LG V20 that will land in September.
