Kickass Torrents is still down and several KAT alternatives and mirrors have already popped up with some torrent sites asking for credit card information before allowing users to download unlike The Pirate Bay (TPB) and Extra Torrent.
Other Kickass Torrents alternatives include 1337X, RARBG and YTS.AG for high quality movie downloads. Some users are already being duped into entering their bank details before they can download torrents in several KAT mirrors and clones which spread even more after Torrentz.eu voluntarily took down itself.
Pirates have been shocked after Kickass Torrents and Torrentz have been taken down. The Pirate Bay recently celebrated its 13th anniversary and has also become the number one torrent site once again with RARBG, YTS.AG, 1337X and Extra Torrent following closely behind.
Several torrent site clones based on the KAT.am mirror have been asking for people's credit card details on their sites, Independent has learned. TPB and Extra Torrent never asks for any information from their users before letting them download the latest Suicide Squad torrent or other files on their sites.
Kickass Torrents has also never asked for any information whatsoever although they did have a membership program. The site even allowed two-factor authentication to protect its users posting on their forums and such.
The original KAT.am was taken down after several entities in Hollywood filed complaints. KAT.am today is considered to be nothing but a Kickass Torrents clone that scams users into giving away their credit card info, The Next Web reported.
People have been searching for Kickass Torrents alternatives and KAT mirrors after it was taken down. Torrentz clones and alternatives have also popped up but they are not gaining as much traction as Extra Torrent, The Pirate Bay, RARBG and 1337X who have reported a huge increase in web traffic after the large torrent sites were shut down by authorites.
Just to be safe, any user should not enter any information about their banking and credit card accounts on any torrent site. Pirates are better off with the tried and proven KAT alternatives TPB and Extra Torrent along with 1337X, YTS.AG and RARBG.
