Production and filming activities for the upcoming tvN drama "The K2" that stars Yoona and Ji Chang Wook have already started. The Girls Generation singer has recently embarked on a trip to Spain to shoot some of the drama's scenes in the said European country.
Yoona reportedly left for Spain on Friday, Sept. 2, Soompi reported. The European country has been identified as one of the filming locations for the upcoming action romance tvN drama "The K2." The Girls Generation group member will portray the female lead, Go Ahn Na.
The singer and actress' character is the hidden daughter of a presidential candidate and a former celebrity. Yoona's Go has been described as a solitary character where a past event resulted in a traumatic experience. The harrowing event has led the character to suffer panic attacks given her fear of other people.
The Girls Generation group member's character is also said to have been hidden away in another country. The reported Spain filming location would likely be the drama's setting for Yoona's Go's secluded life away from South Korea.
The upcoming tvN drama will serve as Yoona's return to South Korean small screens. She last appeared in the 2013 KBS series "Prime Minister and I" where she starred opposite veteran Korean actor Lee Beom Soo. The Kpop singer has also appeared in the Chinese TV series "God of War, Zhao Yun."
In other news, initial photo stills for the upcoming tvN drama has featured a first look at Yoona's co-star Ji's character, allkpop reported. In one of the pictures, the "Healer" actor showed off his fighting skills as his character fought with a mysterious man. Although the second photo has also revealed Ji's character's softer side as he fed a small kitten.
Ji portrays the role of Kim Je Ha, a war soldier turned bodyguard. The actor's character is also said to be referred to as K2. In the upcoming drama, Kim will be hired to guard Yoona's Go.
Viewers can also expect to see Ji in various action scenes given his bodyguard role. The drama's production team has even praised the actor for his hard work in filming the said sequences, as indicated in the same report.
"The K2" is expected to premiere on Sept. 23 on tvN.
Meanwhile, watch some of Yoona's scenes in the KBS drama "Prime Minister and I."
