Razer has recently unveiled their new Ornata "Mecha-Membrane" keyboard which they claim combines the best of both worlds between the mechanical and membrane keyboard types.

Gamers have different preferences over their keyboard type choices when accessorizing with their PCs. Some like the tactile and crunchy feedback of mechanical keyboards while others prefer the smooth and fast transition of membrane keyboards.

Razer Ornata with "Mecha-Membrane" Technology

The Razer Ornata wants to be both a mechanical and membrane keyboard at the same time as it promises the tactile input from mechanical key switches and the feel of membrane keys that most are used to with their first keyboard, Engadget has learned. There are no actual reviews yet but people are curious as to what the Mecha-Membrane hybrid can do for the everyday user and the hardcore PC gamer.

Players like to feel that they have pressed a key especially in critical gaming moments inside MOBAs or first person shooters. Some want to press keys as fast as they can and so they opt for membrane key switches to fulfill their needs.

Razer's new Ornata hybrid keyboard has mid-height keycaps and an ergonomic wrist rest for those who like to game or to use their computers all day long, Guru3D reported. It also has the Razer Synapse feature enabled as well as the anti-ghosting capability for up to 10 key presses.

Gamers will also be glad to know that the Razer Synapse profiles will still work for the Ornata. Their preferred lighting profiles for Overwatch, Dota 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and more will still be usable.

Players can still set their own customized lighting profiles for their different games. For instance, they might get used to a certain key position and the lighting could reflect their preference for easier input. There are also other lighting profiles made by other Razer users for specific keyboards.

Razer's Ornata has a cheaper model for $79.99 but the lighting will only be the monochrome green which is commonly found in the company's products. The 16.8 million color LED option will cost $99 and both models will be available starting on October 2016.
