Novak Djokovic will hope to carry some of his momentum from his fourth round victory when he meets French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals of the US Open on Tuesday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Djokovic capitalized on the lengthy rest he received after cruising past Great Britain's Kyle Edmund 6-2 6-1 6-4 in their Round of 16 clash at the 2016 US Open. The Serb got a walkover against Czech Jiri Vesely in their second round match before advancing into the fourth round when Russia's Mikhail Youzhny retired hurt in their clash.

While Djokovic seemed to have regained his best form against Edmund, there are concerns about the 12-time Grand Slam winner possibly dealing with an injury after summoning the trainer to treat his right elbow. Djokovic admitted he need a bit of massage to his elbow, but insisted he is "feeling very good" playing at the final Grand Slam event of the year.

"It's good to play an entire match," Djokovic said, reports The Guardian. "I'm feeling very good, to be honest. I really wanted to start the match well, because I didn't have much time on the court overall before the fourth round."

"Considering I had some struggles before the tournament, I feel great at this moment physically. Mentally as well, I'm motivated. Coming into the second week of a grand slam quarter-finals feeling good, it's exactly where I want to be."

Djokovic next faces Tsonga, who defeated American Jack Sock in four sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-2. Djokovic leads Tsonga by 15-6 in their FedEx ATP Head2Head career singles matchup, winning nine of their last 10 outings. Their most recent meeting was in Indian Wells, where Djokovic handed Tsonga a straight sets loss in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The winner between Djokovic and Tsonga could face either Lucas Pouille or Gael Monfils, the other remaining Frenchmen in the last-eight stage of the US Open. Pouille scored a massive upset over Rafael Nadal 6-1 2-6 6-4 3-6 7-6(6), while Monfils dismissed Marcos Baghdatis 6-3 6-2 6-3.
