Actor Kwak Dong-Yeon will be making a special appearance in the upcoming fantasy drama, "Goblin." The 19-year-old actor portrays Kim Byung-Yeon in KBS 2TV's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" along with Park Bo-Gum and Kim Yoo-Jung.
The upcoming fantasy drama follows a goblin, Kim Shin (Gong Yoo), who needs a human bride to end his immortal life. He lives with an amnesiac grim reaper, Wang Yeo (Lee Dong-Wook).
The two guide those who have passed away to the afterlife. Though details about Kwak role in the drama are being kept under wraps, it was learned that the actor will play a young king, Drama Beans reported.
It is believed that the upcoming drama will have a historical backstory for the immortal goblin. "Goblin" held its first script reading on Aug. 30 at the Nuri Dream Square in Sangandong, Seoul, South Korea.
"Writer Kim Eun Sook and producing director Lee Eung Bok took the lead," a production staff told Soompi. "The script read-through was passionate and the actors all matched well together. We have confidence that we can make a production that will conclude 2016 with a flourish."
With an intended release later this year, filming for "Goblin" is slated to happen later this month in Canada. Other stars include Kim Go-Eun, Yoo In-Na, Yook Sung-Jae, Kim Seong-Kyeom, Park Hee-Von, Hwang Suk-Jung, and Lee El. More details about the drama will be revealed soon.
Meanwhile, Kwak made his acting debut in KBS's "My Husband Got A Family" (2012), for which he was honored as the Best Young Actor at the 2012 Korea Drama Awards. He then starred in 2014's "Inspiring Generation", "Modern Farmer" and "Adolescence Medley."
Currently, Kwak plays a skilled swordsman and scholar, Kim Byung-Yeon, in KBS "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds." His character is the Head of the Royal Guard of the Crown Prince's palace and Lee Yeong's (Park Bo Gum) trusted compatriot.
