Jeremy Lin attributes his NBA success to Christ, something that helped him improve his game. Now, the Brooklyn Nets guard hopes his nephew follows the same and make a connection with Jesus.

In a previous post here on Yibada, we did report on that crazy hairstyle that Lin sported in honor of his nephew. In the Instagram post showing his new hairdo, Lin explained his name and ended it by saying he hoped to see Jaden Peter Lin ‘trust and walk in the water’ as his middle name connotes.

Obviously fond and proud of his new nephew, Lin has been a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. In fact, he attributes his game improvements to God, turning to spiritual help since entering the NBA as a rookie, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Lin did go through rocky years in the NBA after his breakout year with the New York Knicks in 2012. After “Linsanity”, things didn’t turn out quite well for the 27-year-old star.

He moved to the Houston Rockets after that big run with the Knicks but never really got going. Moving to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2014 also didn’t help, perhaps the darkest years of his early NBA career.

Despite those shortcomings, Lin never lost hope and kept the faith. He kept his trust in the Lord and eventually showed glimpses of brilliance with the Charlotte Hornets in the 2015-16 NBA season.

For his efforts, Lin has been rewarded with a new deal and a starting role with the Brooklyn Nets. His reunion with former Knicks assistant coach Kenny Atkinson was the best among his options from teams who expressed interest in his services.

Lin’s story has been erratic though there is no denying that playing for the Lord has helped mold him a lot as a player and as an individual. Now he hopes his nephew inherits the same attitude once Jaden Peter Lin comes off age.

Jeremy Lin is likely to get his fair share of criticism this coming season from all around as he tries to set a trend once more with his new hairstyle, CBS reported. Seeing his fondness for his nephew, none of that is expected to affect him when he enters the basketball court for the 2016-17 NBA wars.
