Amidst the rumors that Pangu will soon release an iOS 10 jailbreaking tool, the modified software for iPhones and iPhones was still nowhere to be found even after its supposed September 17 launch. Instead it was Apple that issued an update - the iOS 10.0.1. Will the patch soon followed by a jailbreak release date?
It is possible as the jailbreak community has already seen an iOS 10 jailbreak in action when months ago Team Pangu showed off Cydia running on the operating system. But the Chinese hacking team did not follow through and many feared that succeeding beta releases of iOS 10 may have closed down the opening that Pangu was working on.
That being the case, jailbreak fans still got their hopes high for a fully working JB tool to come out soon when dev Luca Todesco demoed in a short clip (can be viewed below) his version of an iOS 10 jailbreak. But the work was far from complete with Todesco even making clear that the jailbreak he has is a semi-tethered, meaning users will need to re-jailbreak every device reboot.
And it is most likely that Todesco will not provide a public jailbreak as WCCF Tech reported that what the hacker has merely demonstrated was the fact that iOS 10 can be jailbroken. Yet for the JB tool to come from him is another story as the same report added that it's more realistic to expect the next jailbreak provided by Pangu and iH8sn0w. TaiG remains a possible jailbreak source but the report did not mention the group.
As for the actual iOS 10 jailbreak release, it's a safe bet that any of the jailbreak makers will only advance on their progress following a major update and the latest from Apple, or version 10.0.1, is not what they are waiting for. Per Forbes, the lightweight patch is minor bug fixes and OS enhancements and not something that would prompt Pangu and other hackers to finalize their work.
The logic for the holdout is for the next jailbreak to last longer than the last version. A JB tool that would be based on iOS 10.1, for instance, is seen to deliver greater benefits to users and its effectiveness likely to stretch for months. And Apple is unlikely to issue 10.1 in the next few weeks. The next big update for iOS 10 should come November at the earliest, which means that a jailbreak release date will not happen until November or December 2016.
Meanwhile, jailbreak fans are advised not to install iOS 10.0.1 while waiting for the next move from Pangu, iH8sn0w or TaiG as doing so, according to Forbes, will surely break the current iOS 9.2-9.3.3 jailbreak.
