Following their divorce announcement on Sept. 20, Tuesday, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's net worth are one thing that will make their divorce more controversial. They are one of the powerful couples in the Hollywood today, who have a combined net worth of $400 million.

Pitt's net worth is $240 million, while Jolie's net worth is estimated at $160 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Being among the most influential duo's in the movie industry, their divorce is definitely going to cost a lot. Pitt and Jolie own a number of sprawling empires in Los Feliz, Hollywood; grand estate in Chateau Miraval in France; New Orleans; and most recently, they purchased a new home in Majorca, where Pitt is shooting for his movie "Allied."

The question that most people want to know today is how the A-list couple will divide assets. Everyone is speculating whether Pitt and Jolie had a prenuptial arrangement, which up to now remains unclear. It is predicted that they are going to face a messy, expensive divorce settlement given the price associated with their net worths.

Since 2004, Pitt and Jolie have earned $555 million together, according to Forbes, giving an indication on how huge Pitt and Jolie's net worth are. In 2014 alone, the two collected $117.5 million before the taxes were deducted. The actress and humanitarian earned a total of $239.5 million in the recent 11 years, while Pitt made $315.5 million before tax deductions.

Jolie filed the divorce papers on Sept.19, Monday, citing irreconcilable differences, triggered by conflict over the kids, anger and substance abuse. She filed their date of separation on Sept. 15, Thursday, and sought for full physical custody of their six children and only visitation rights to Pitt.

In a statement released by Jolie's attorney Robert Offer, he made it clear that she filed the dissolution of their marriage for the health of the family. Pitt had also released a statement, expressing his sadness over their divorce and what is more important are their kids.

It was not the first time for the couple to face a divorce. Pitt was once married to Jennifer Aniston, with whom he agreed to a $60 million divorce settlement, while it was third for Jolie, who was previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and British actor Jonny Lee Miller. With the couple's popularity in the entertainment industry, everyone is speculating how Pitt and Jolie's net worth will be affected by their divorce.
