The latest and the greatest Android flagships from Google called the Pixel and Pixel XL are no doubt compelling upgrades from the past versions but their immediate predecessors just got more compelling. The LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P are now down by $100 when packaged with Project Fi with the already dirt-cheap 5X ready to go for as low as $199.

One might recall that immediately after the Pixel phones were introduced, Google pushed the Nexus brand into extinction by removing the Nexus 2015 models from the Play Store. But Nexus is far from dead, at least in the case of the 5X and 6P. According to 9to5Google, both devices remain available through Project FI with discounted sticker prices.

In the case of the 5X, the asking price for the basic model is down to $199, which is practically a steal considering that the deal includes Project Fi's promise of uninterrupted and fast cellular connectivity thanks to Google's MNVO infrastructure. And the latest offering from the tech giant called Group Plans will allow access of the same service for a group of up to five persons.

"Group Plans are now available in Project Fi. Up to five people can be added to a plan for $15 per month with each receiving their own number," 9to5Google reported.

The same promo applies to the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, which also comes with a $100 price off. Its maker lists the 6P starting at $499 so with the Project Fi bundled with the handset the upfront payment will be lowered to $399.

Now when picking between the Nexus 6P with 5.7-inch screen and the 5.5-inch Pixel XL, buyers will simply have to consider that the two devices share nearly the same premium design, high-end hardware specifications and identical user interface. What really separates the two, according to Android Central, is the pricing.

For the Nexus 6P, having to pay $399 with Project Fi is fantastic deal while the Pixel XL with or without Verizon will cost $769. For most buyers, the choice should be easy.

And one more thing to convince that Nexus remains the best choice, according to 9to5Google: "Google's MNVO recently added US Cellular to provide more coverage stateside and partnered with Three for faster overseas service. All group plan users have the same access to international pricing and free Wi-Fi tethering."
