Samsung is reportedly working on two Galaxy S8 editions that will match not only Apple's iPhone regular and phablet-size flagships but also the latter's Siri digital assistant. Set to unbox in early 2017 is a 5-inch GS8 with 2K QHD display and a 5.5-inch variant that will render in glorious 4K screen resolution.

Expected to be part of the package, according to SamMobile, is a personal digital assistant that Sammy fans predict will be an enhanced incarnation of the iPhone's Siri. The guesswork is based on Samsung's recent acquisition of Viv Labs, which is the same out outfit responsible for the earlier version of the iOS-exclusive PDA.

By default both GS8s will still make use of the Super AMOLED technology though the rendering will be different for each flavor. For the smaller build, the screen resolution is likely set to 1440p that will give the device an edge over its chief rival - the iPhone 7 from Apple.

As for the jumbo Galaxy S8, it's going to be a 4K Super AMOLED display and according to WCCF Tech the South Korean tech giant will make use of the Adaptive Display technology that was first seen with the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

That means that with the phablet GS8 "it is possible that the 4K display will only get triggered in necessary situations, such as rendering 4K content," WCCF Tech said, adding that the approach will extend the handset's battery life. But it is expected that the bigger Galaxy S8 will deploy with a larger battery pack.

Per the latest rumors, Samsung will release its first 2017 flagship with two source of power - Qualcomm's Snapdragon 830 and the company's in-house Exynos 8895 processing chip. Like in previous deployments, the market destinations will determine what CPU will be found on the upcoming GS8.

And there will be a number of firsts for Samsung's GS8 push. Likely, it will be the company's first flagship to boast of 6GB RAM provision or even more, which will be an upgrade from the 4GB RAM that came with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Also, speculations are rife that when it comes out the Galaxy S8 will have a dual camera for a shooter to directly with the same set up unleashed by Apple with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

Reports from South Korea indicated that mass production of the Galaxy S8 will commence December 2016 in preparation for a rumored February 26 unveiling. The actual release date is likely scheduled early March 2017.
