A Wuhan man is now spending 15 days in police detention and was charged with threatening behavior and driving without a license. He previously threatened his estranged wife and her lover.

To scare the cheating wife, he staged their three-year-old daughter’s “killing” by creating a fake murder scene. The man took photos of his daughter laying down in a dug ditch and within view was a wooden knife.

After taking the photo, the man sent it to his wife and other family members, claiming he killed their daughter and his next victims are the cheating wife and her male lover, Global Times reported. The woman reported the death threat and police tried to locate her estranged husband’s van.

When Wuhan police checked, the daughter was unharmed and playing mobile games. He admitted that he just wanted to scare his cheating wife to refused to give him a divorce on Oct. 11 even if he caught she was engaged in an extramarital affair.

The refusal of the cheating wife to grant the man divorce could be due to rumors of tightening of property purchasing rules involving divorced couples. The speculations were married couples must pay a larger deposit when buying property and there is a limit on the number of properties they can own.

By divorcing, separated couple could buy properties as two singles. Even if the rumors were false, Chinese residents queued in Nanjing Province to file for divorce. A previous rumor similar to the one in Nanjing also hit Shanghai City, News.com.au reported.
