Principal photography is about to begin on director Park Hoon-Jung's next project "VIP." The upcoming espionage thriller film stars Lee Jong-Suk, Kim Myung-Min, Jang Dong-Gun and Park Hee-Soon.

On Oct. 20, Thursday, film distributor Warner Brothers Korea announced that the entire cast and staff members of "VIP" are gearing up to commence the filming on Oct. 22, Saturday. The film is intended to hit theaters sometime in 2017.

The story of "VIP" revolves around the son of a high-ranking North Korean official, Gwang-Il (Lee), who is the prime suspect of serial murders across the world. Thus, prompting a heart-stopping chase involving officials from South Korea, North Korea, and Interpol.

"The film will let people see the new side of each actor," director Park told Yonhap News Agency. "It will be more than just a noir."

In the film, "Six Flying Dragons" actor will play a policeman, while "The Age of Shadows" star will transform into a North Korean spy. Jang, who portrayed Kim Do-Jin in SBS's "A Gentleman's Dignity," has been cast to play a mediator between the CIA and the Korean National Intelligence Service.

In other news, Lee, who recently starred in the popular MBC drama "W - Two Worlds," is set to make a special cameo appearance in "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo," Soompi reported. It is said that his cameo appearance is intended to show support for his YG labelmates, Lee Sung-Kyung and Nam Joo-Hyuk.

Further, Chorokbaem Media, the company who worked on "W - Two Worlds," has been attached to produce the show. It came after MBC released the first still images of Sung-Kyung's titular character in the drama. The said images are from a particular scene filmed on Oct. 1 at Jeongneung, Seoul, South Korea.
