Kurt Angle is considered by many as one of the greatest wrestlers in history and a lot of fans believe that he should end his career in the WWE. The latest rumors have revealed an update on the possibility of Angle coming back to the WWE next year.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter was asked by a fan on Twitter regarding an update on Angle's WWE return. Meltzer noted that the final decision about it is up to Vince McMahon and he still has not changed his mind regarding Angle's substance abuse and injury history.

According to The Inquisitr, the WWE had an interest in the 47-year-old Olympic hero but they are worried about his past substance abuse, as well as his surgically-repaired neck. It should be noted that the WWE has brought back several former superstars in the past despite their past demons.

Superstars such as Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Scott Hall got second chances once they were able to become clean. Both superstars were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with Hall getting some guest appearances on television while also training young stars in NXT.

Angle has revealed in many interviews in the past couple of years that he has been sober for three years and he has stopped taking Xanax and alcohol. He also had a story wherein he was taking 65 pills of Vicodin a day.

As for his neck injury, he has had surgery on it five times since his career started in the Olympics. He would only be a part-time superstar if ever he gets a chance to come back in the WWE. He could feud with current stars such as Rusev, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to name a few.

The former WWE World champion could also become a mentor for superstars such as Chad Gable and Jason Jordan of American Alpha. Another way to use him is for WWE 2K18 wherein he can be the next pre-order exclusive character for the game.

Nevertheless, these are just rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. In an appearance on The Ric Flair podcast last month, Angle revealed that he has talked with Vince and Triple H and there is mutual interest in working with each other sometime next year.

"If I go back to WWE it would most likely be the year or year after. I did talk with Triple H a few months ago, very loose conversation. They have interest, I have interest. They don't know what to do with me yet, you know, it was more of a loose conversation," Angle said.
