The Boston Celtics are rumored to be interested in trading for John Wall, but such move could cost the Cs a handful of their key players.

There is no denying that the Celtics could finish the season better after adding Al Horford to their roster this summer. But if things do not pan out for the Celtics, the team could certainly consider a midseason trade.

Among the trade targets the Celtics could look into is John Wall of the Washington Wizards. Rumors have been rife about the Celtics eyeing Wall, and although it is unclear whether Boston truly has interests in acquiring Wall, it would be intriguing to see the 17-time NBA champs to land another star.

Wall would turn the Celtics into legit title contenders. Wall, who has career averages of 18.0 points and 9.0 assists, would be a tremendous upgrade for the Celtics at the point guard position, forming an All-Star duo with Horford.

However, trading for a player like Wall could be very costly for the Celtics. While they do have a plethora of tradable assets and future picks, it remains to be seen whether Danny Ainge would go all out in trading for another star. But one possible scenario the Celtics could explore is dealing Isaiah Thomas, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart to Washington for the services of Wall, according to a proposed deal by Complex.

"So maybe it's time John tells the Wizards he wants out. No more apathetic fans, no more sharing a back court with a minutes-restricted guy who somehow makes $5 million+ more than him, no more stepping on crunchy old Michael Jordan cigars in the locker room-it's time to move on," the report claimed.

"This has the potential to be win/win. Boston gets another star to pair with Al Horford, and the Wizards get rid of Wall before he turns into a malcontent while adding an All-Star, a competent guard, and a high-ceiling lottery pick to their roster."

Thomas and Smart would give the Wizards insurance at the point guard position and both should cover up Wall's absence. The duo of Wall and Bradley Beal have not quite yield the Wizards good results, but adding in more conventional point guards could maximize well other talents in the team's core roster. Including Brown in the deal provides the Wizards an added depth at the small forward spot and a prospect to develop.

It remains to be seen whether the Celtics would give up too many of their key players to finally add another star into their lineup, but if things do not go well in Washington, expect the Cs to make an offer for Wall.
