"Stranger Things" Season 2 will air in 2017 with the appearance of returning character Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and new characters. Netflix's original horror thriller is back in production and the table read suggests one fan favorite will be back from the Upside Down, the dark and dangerous dimension in the events of Season 1.

"Stranger Things" Season 1 ended with Eleven sacrificing herself to put an end to the demonic monster Demogorgon and save her friends. She seemed to die or disappear to the Upside Down. Her return was then hinted when a snippet showed Sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour) left some Eggos in a hatch in the woods.

It is now confirmed that Brown was present during the first table read and she was shown in the official cast photo Netflix tweeted. She appeared alongside core cast members Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo and newcomers Dacre Montgomery ("Power Rangers") and Sadie Sink ("American Odyssey," "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"). The regulars of the Ross and Matt Duffer-created series Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery and Charlie Heaton were also present.

Other cast members who were confirmed to return were not shown, such as Shannon Purser (Barbara Holland), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) and Harbour. The upcoming season of "Stranger Things" is set a year following the events of Season 1 and will air in 2017.

Sink plays Max, a tough girl aged between 12 to 14, who appear and behave like a boy. She prefers riding a skateboard rather than a bicycle. Montgomery is Max's hyper-confident older brother Billy, who drives a Camaro and has violent and unpredictable nature behind his apparent charisma, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Stranger Things" Season 2 also adds three new characters - Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen, Sean Astin ("The Goonies," "Lord of the Rings") and Paul Reiser ("Aliens," "Whiplash"). Berthelsen plays Roman, a devastated woman who suffered a great loss when she was a child and is enigmatically associated with the lab's supernatural events. Astin will play Bob Newby, the local Hawkins RadioShack manager who went to high school with Byers and Hopper.

Reiser will portray Dr. Owens who works in the Department of Energy on a "clean up" task.  The 59-year-old comedian who is currently on Amazon's "Red Oaks" will debut a scripted series on NBCU's Seeso in 2017, Variety reported.
