The NBA trade rumors continue for the Sacramento Kings as their intention to trade DeMarcus Cousins is probably the worst-kept secret in the league.
This was confirmed by scathing revelations from anonymous General Managers and team executives as gathered by Amico Hoops. Contrary to their public stance of keeping Boogie in their fold, executives declare that the Kings front office would be willing to trade their franchise center even "tomorrow."
The article quotes a West team executive as saying: "I'd take (Cousins), but you'd need a dominant personality to control him. I've been in that locker room. He's a problem. They'd love to trade him, but can't. So they act like they won't. They would, though- tomorrow."
The same executive confirmed that both GM Vlade Divac and team owner Vivek Ranadive have explored the trade options for Boogie albeit in a "secretive" and "passive-aggressive" manner.
Despite persistent trade rumors involving Cousins, teams are not exactly lining up and giving up the farm to acquire him as the GM stated: "I'd be terrified with that guy on my team. They've asked me about him, what I'd give up. The answer is not much, no one that I value."
Still, there are teams that would take a shot at Cousins. The Cleveland Cavaliers definitely has the dominant personality in LeBron James who set JR Smith straight despite the latter's reputation as a problematic player. The Cavs have inquired about Cousins and their SB Nation team blog, Fear the Sword continues to keep tabs on arguably the league's best center.
Their article cites the usual Cousins buzz on how his trade value would plummet if the Kings hold out too long. They name teams that have the pieces to offer the Kings: Boston Celtics with their Brooklyn Nets' picks, Orlando Magic, the LA Lakers and Indiana Pacers.
However, none of those teams have the "dominant personality" aside from the Pacers' with Paul George. Also, Cousins is probably not the type of player Larry Bird fancies.
The Cavs are in the best position to pry Cousins from the West, but they currently have an immaculate record. It may not be worth the risk.
