The site operator of ExtraTorrent.cc has said that since he is locked out of the control panel of his domain registrar, he has lost control of several mirror sites of ExtraTorrent. He has also revealed the new official mirrors of ExtraTorrent.
Extratorrent.rocks, etproxy.top and extratorrent.date are the ExtraTorrent mirrors that are no longer accessible. ExtraTorrent is a highly popular torrent site after ThePirateBay (TPB). The hosting companies are consistently under pressure by numerous entertainment industry to take action against torrent sites that host copyright content.
According to Torrent Freak, the aforementioned three ExtraTorrent mirrors have gone down after a copyright holder lodged a complaint. The site operator of ExtraTorrent has stated that the Czech domain registrar, Subreg.cz has allegedly locked ExtraTorrent out of its control panel that has caused its domains to stop working.
Subreg.cz has reportedly claimed that it does not accessed to the above-mentioned domain names of ExtraTorrent. The domain registrar has advised ExtraTorrent to take the issue to the court.
It is interesting to note that Subreg.cz has said that it has not blocked the three ExtraTorrent mirror sites. In fact, it has also claimed that the sites were in compliance with ICANN rules. It further stated that when it received a complaint, it forwarded it to the account holder.
This indicates that some entity at a higher level may have take action against the ExtraTorrent mirror sites. This caused the rumor mill to believe that ExtraTorrent may shut down soon.
The WHOIS information of the three Extratorrent mirrors does not show any mention about registrar suspension. Since these sites are no longer accessible, it means that the DNS host records have been removed.
The main ExtraTorrent.cc is working fine because the domain is registered with Subreg.cz. The site operator of ExtraTorrent that Extra.to and Extratorrent.site are the working mirrors. The reason why they are working is that these domains are also registered elsewhere.
So, Extra.to and Extratorrent.site are now the official backups of ExtraTorrent.cc. Its site operator recommends users to make use of ExtraTorrent.site as it is not blocked anywhere.
