A newly developed technology from Stratos aims to consolidate all of its user's credit card into one neatly designed card. The concept of the Statos Card stems from the idea of a universal credit and debit card that can offer efficiency and ease of use. Reports confirm that the card will be available on April.
The Stratos card works by loading the user's entire credit card information into a smartphone app using a dongle that the company provides. The information will then be electronically store within the Stratos card. This will then give the users the ability to use all their loaded cards just like they would with the original one.
The card is also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. In addition to this, the Stratos card can hold unlimited number of credits cards and it also has three touch-sensitive sensors that lets user's pull up one of the most frequently used cards. Other features like rewards and membership cards can be easily brought up by using the app installed in to the user's smartphone.
The Stratos card has a printed circuit board equipped with Li-ion battery that can power the card for two years. It is also enclosed in a waterproof body that according to the company has passed the ISO 7810 and 7816 tests, according to Tech Crunch. These tests include, abrasion, static shock and bend tests.
To protect sensitive user information, the Stratos card is equipped with a bank-level encryption. Users can remotely disable the card and it also has a feature that automatically disables itself if it is separated for a certain amount of time from the owner's phone.
The card was designed by Herbst Produkt based in Ann Arbor, MI. According to its CEO Thiago Olso, the company has been working on the product for almost three years.
For interested buyers, the Stratos card membership pricing starts at $95 for one year and $145 for two years, according to Wired.
