"Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars" actor Harrison Ford, 72, was seriously injured in a plane crash, NBC News reported.

Ford is an avid pilot and has been reported that he had crashed a couple of times in the past, but nothing serious as this one. He was reportedly rushed to the hospital after his vintage two-seater fighter plane crashed into a golf course in Venice, California.

The actor was said to be breathing and conscious when the paramedics arrived. They confirmed too that he walked away from the crash and was immediately given first aid treatment for his head trauma by doctors happened to be at the course.

According to updates through AV Club, the injuries, which at first was described as "critical" was later corrected as serious. Ford suffered head lacerations and a big possibility of fractures. The update also reported that at approximately 6:07 p.m., the cause of the mishap is a possible mechanical failure and as of 6:35 p.m. the actor's condition has been increased to stable by LAPD. The LA Fire Department, who was the initial responder to the scene, also confirmed prior reports that Ford was alert, conscious and breathing.

Ford has starred in all the "India Jones" movies as the lead role and played the iconic "Star Wars" character Hans Solo. Hans Solo's character was only included on the early release of the film and was excluded in the news installment of the sci-fi flick that depicts the early years of the blockbuster.
