"Guardians of the Galaxy" was a breakthrough film for Marvel Studios as it featured characters outside of the Avengers.

It was quite a risky choice for Marvel but when the movie became a blockbuster, it set the tone for the next phase of the studio.

The film's success also paved the way for a sequel which promises to be a fun ride with fan favorites returning and major revelations anticipated.

Thus, it comes as no surprise as fans all over the world are anticipating its trailer. According to Comic Book Movie it will drop tomorrow (December 3, Sunday).

"We still don't have official confirmation, but a couple of separate reports indicate that we'll be getting a brand new trailer for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 tomorrow. Apparently ESPN has been screening some type of ad (again, we haven't seen it ourselves) promoting the teaser, which fans have been anticipating ever since director James Gunn revealed that it'd be with us 'soon.'"

We're hearing the trailer will air Saturday evening on ABC during the ACC Championship game from 8pm ET, as well as on ESPN around the same time.

If that ad pops up online we'll update ASAP."

Incidentally, ESPN is owned by Disney, which also owns Marvel Studios. It won't be a surprise if they use all their channels for marketing.

What's the big deal about the trailer? Quite a lot. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director James Gunn recalled how he was very conscious about the trailer for the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.

"That trailer tested not very well. We had another trailer that was very cheesy that sold the movie as something different than what it was - that tested a little better," says Gunn.

The marketing team objected to the "cheesy trailer" which eventually turned out well for Gunn-and the movie.

"And at the end of the day, the [marketing] guys were like, 'This is what the movie is. We are selling what the movie is. Not something else,' " says Gunn. "You've got to sell the movie for what it is, and that's what they did. They really bought my trust with that on the first movie."

We'll see what Gunn and the marketing team has in store for GOTG 2 when the trailer drops tomorrow.
