Have you heard of the term Digital Detox?

Well this is coined by a New York based group called Reboot that has the ultimate goal to teach, educate and promote Jewish traditions through events and projects, San Fransico NBC Local reports.  They challenge people across the country, starting sundown Friday until Saturday to unplug their smartphone, tablet or computer to take part in the National Day of Unplugging which is an outgrowth of the Sabbath Manifesto, a Jewish ritual of taking one day a week to unwind, unplug and connect with nature and loved ones.

According to Weblog, Reboot's Tanya Schevitz says that most of us, especially the younger generation today, are increasingly missing out some of the important moments in our daily lives because of the devices we have today. She also added that most of us feel that we're under attack every time by the technology such as emails, Facebook posts and Twitter tweets and Instagram posts. She adds that it became so huge up to a point that it is too hard to handle and it is just so fitting to take a break from it.

Reboot also confirmed that they have given presentations at schools and heard from school children that wished their parents would trash texts and tweets and connect with them more. The school kids even commented that a single computer or technology free dinner would make a huge difference.

Reboot also gave tips for those who wanted to try but could not due to whatever reason that may be. "They can start small, one gadet at a time and see from there" said Schevitz.
