The United States candor on their laws has been hounded lately by issues surrounding the Trayvon and Ferguson incidents. These incidents gained national media attention because of their overpowering message to humanity. Amidst these issues, comes the TV show "American Crime," which is about a home invasion that ended with the murder of the head of the family and left his wife brutally beaten.
According to Hitfix, the TV Show "American Crime" is provocative which they even dubbed it as the most provocative show to hit television screen.
The shows, relating to the Trayvon and Ferguson crime, started from a program featuring the indicate protesters clash with the police and the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" moment. In an interview with John Ridley, he said that it was the wake of the Trayvon Martin issue and "American Crime" production has just started. Then suddenly, the Ferguson incident happened and he thought, they really are not moving forward with the issue, rather, something new happens after the other.
Ridley also made his point, according to The Daily Beast, that even if it is just a TV show, it is their responsibility to immortalize what is happening around them. He feels sorry for doing so, but says, they cannot go on doing a TV show based on visions when, clearly, the mere crime is happening for real.
Ridley wasn't shy about saying, there were images of truth that may never go away and there are those that people just want to let go and forget about it. He also said, "If a bunch of black people came into Starbucks loaded up, how do you think that would end? It would end horribly."
"American Crime" Plotline includes interracial couple, which people don't normally see in movies. Plots like that was merely taboo on TV and movies, "American Crime" did it anyway said reports.
