The Wyatt Family became the new SmackDown Tag Team champions at WWE TLC after defeating Heath Slater and Rhyno via pinfall. The latest rumors have revealed the plans for The Wyatt Family heading to next year.
Randy Orton, who surprisingly joined The Wyatt Family at the end of October, was very instrumental in the stable's first ever championship. He hit the RKO out of nowhere on Rhyno, and Bray Wyatt capitalized to get the victory.
As recapped by WWE.com, Orton and Wyatt successfully defended their newly-won titles this past week on SmackDown Live. The two were dominating but they also got some help from Luke Harper, who is also considered as a tag team champion.
According to Cageside Seats, the WWE officially looks at the trio of Orton, Wyatt and Harper as tag team champions via the "Freebird Rule." But now that The Wyatt Family disposed Slater and Rhyno with ease, they are expected to feud with American Alpha.
The two teams had a good match before WWE TLC to determine the No. 1 contenders. The Wyatt Family also blindsided American Alpha after announcing that they have to go through them first before getting a title shot.
The WWE is booking The Wyatts as a force to be reckoned with, especially through the commentary of JBL. Nevertheless, the company wants serious tag team champions since Slater and Rhyno were more of a comedy act.
Now that Rhyno might turn against his partner, The Wyatt Family are set to defend their titles against new challengers. There are no credible teams fit to fight Orton, Wyatt, and Harper beside American Alpha and The Usos.
However, The Usos are heels so they might not challenge for the tag team titles just yet. It means that Chad Gable and Jason Jordan could be in line for a title shot. There were reports stating that the WWE halted the push of American Alpha because they wanted them to win at WrestleMania 33.
One of the possible plans is to have The Wyatt Family vs. American Alpha at the Royal Rumble. The champions could retain the titles there but they get the rematch at WrestleMania 33. But there is also the possible Orton vs. The Undertaker match that is being rumored last month.
