2NE1 comeback may happen soon, if former member Dara's Instagram is to be believed. The singer posted her mic and earpiece she used during promotions of the 2NE1.
Former 2NE1 member Sandara Park posted photos of some of the things she used when promoting YG's girl group. 2NE1 has their signature mics for their stage performances. She also posted a separate photo of her earpieces used at promotions.
One of the earpieces has "XXI" on it, which is the Roman numeral for 21. This sparked speculations of a 2NE1 comeback. A rumor previously caused a stir among fans claiming that YG Entertainment purposely disbanded 2NE1 because the label wants to re-introduce Park Bom, CL, and Dara as a three-member girl group dubbed as XXI.
According to a report, XXI will represent the three members. Moreover, rebranding the girl group will make netizens forget all the scandals and negative reports associated with the name 2NE1. Another probable reason for rebranding is YG does not want to promote former member Minzy by using the old girl group's name. Minzy will always be associated with the name that will help her career.
It is found out that the report is not from an insider, but merely speculations made by loyal 2NE1 fans. This should be taken as a grain of salt as there is no official word from YG Entertainment yet.
Last month, YG Entertainment officially announced that they have decided to disband the agency's female group citing Minzy's departure made it hard for the remaining members to go on. The disbandment shocked fans as 2NE1 is one of the top girl groups in South Korea and worldwide.
The label also revealed that YG renewed the contracts of CL and Dara, but Park Bom did not renew her contract. This is different from what YG announced earlier this year when 2NE1's contract expired.
