Ford Builds Newest Eco-Boost Engines In Cleaveland

Ford has started building its new twin-scroll 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engines for North America from England to their first engine plant in Cleveland, USA Today reports. Ford's 2015 Ford Edge model, which will go on sale soon, will get the 2-liter Cleveland manufactured engine. According to Ford's vice president of North America Manufacturing, with approximately 4 million Eco Boost vehicles sold in 2014, Cleveland Engine has been the first choice in their plan in providing customers with a fuel-efficient and affordable engine. He also acknowledges the hardworking team at Cleveland Engine is proud to produce two of the most technologically advanced and efficient engines in the road today. The $200 million Ford investment Cleveland Engine Plant has added around 450 jobs, on top of the current 1,300 employees who primarily worked on EcoBooost V-6 and the 3.7 liter variants for rear-drive vehicles, when it was opened in 2013. Topix also added that before the Cleveland plant, the engines were shipped from Valencia, Spain. Up to this day, the Valencia plant is still making the 2-liter engine, but engines are for cars that are built in Europe. Valencia also supplies engine components for North America and Europe clients. The American made smaller engines are projected to support the anticipated demand of customers for the crossovers' Edge and Explorer. "Utility sales are growing at three times the rate of the global vehicle industry," added Mark LaNeve, Ford's vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service.
