Hironobu Sakaguchi, founder of Mistwalker and the creator of the "Final Fantasy" games, has confirmed that he has a brand new game coming out. He did not share any details regarding gameplay or a release date but he did confirm he will be unveiling the title in 2017.

"I plan to announce a new title in 2017. Stay tuned," he stated in an interview with Japanese site 4Gamer. He did not give a specific time frame when he might make this announcement.

Mistwalker is working alongside "Bravely Default" developers Silicon Studio for a new game. However, it is still uncertain if Sakaguchi's announcement is about this partnership and the game they are making together or if it is a different game all together.

Their most recent title was "Terra Battle" for mobile devices and according to Dual Shockers they are working to release it on consoles. No specific release date for the console port has yet been announced and it is also uncertain if it is related by any means to the game Sakaguchi will announce next year.

He also confirmed he is working on opening a new "development-type" of company. No official name for this company was stated but Sakaguchi did joke about calling it "Dawnwalker," a pun on his current company's name. It is still uncertain if this new company may be involved with the new game.

Sakaguchi started as an employee for Square-Enix, then known as Squaresoft, and created the first "Final Fantasy" game for NES. He continued working with the company until the launch of the CGI film "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within." After the film released he left the company and founded Mistwalker.

At Mistwalker he worked on games such as "Blue Dragon," "Lost Odyssey," "Away: Shuffle Dungeon," "The Last Story" and "Terra Battle." The company previously worked on a game titled "Cry On" for the Xbox 360 but the project was cancelled.
