The popular thermal imaging infrared camera manufacturer FLIR announced its two new thermal imaging action camera for drones. Alongside the drone-centric cameras, the company also updated its third-generation model of the iPhone-connected accessory, FLIR One.

In the recent CES 2017 event, FLIR unveiled its Duo action cameras, which will perfectly fits for personal drones with its new thermal imaging technology. Named FLIR Duo and Duo R, the new cameras are compact and lightweight, while producing on-board recording and real-time remote control of camera functions over PWM and MSX multi-spectral imaging enhancement, NDTV has learned.

The Duo R even elevates on its imaging capabilities as it offers calibrated temperature measurement capabilities alongside Duo's feature set, which will deliver professional photos for agricultural, construction, building inspection, and civil engineering fields.

According to Apple Insider, the FLIR Duo cameras are equipped with a multi-sensor imaging device that uses Lepton 160x120-resolution thermal microcamera core, a normal 1080p camera, and FLIR's MSX technology, which makes thermal imaging possible in the air.

During flights, users can be able to switch between the thermal and visible camera views together with other options like a picture-in-picture mode, all maneuvered in real-time remote control of camera functions available via the FLIR UAS app. The said app is available for both Android and iOS operating systems.

On another note, FLIR revealed the upgraded version of its FLIR One and FLIR One Pro, which are known as thermal image accessory for Android and iOS. The enhancement added on the One device is its "OneFit" connection that makes connection between the accessory and a case-protected iPhone easily.

The Pro variant, however, features multiple spot temperature readings under the Lepton thermal microcamera technology, which is four times the resolution of the standard FLIR One. It even adds the MSX and VividIR processing for improved picture quality.

There DUO cameras are priced for $1,000 in the standard version, while the DUO R costs $1,300 as it offers more precision for professionals performing aerial surveys. In addition, the FLIR One accessory has dropped its price from the previous model's $250 cost to $200, while the Pro variant is pegged at a higher price of $400.
