"Girl Meets World" Season 5 was not picked up by the Disney Channel, and the reason behind their decision has finally been revealed. There are also some rumors suggesting that the show could be picked up by Netflix, and an announcement will be made soon.

According to Deadline, one of the main reasons why the network did not renew "Girl Meets World" was because of its ratings. The show, which was a spinoff of "Boy Meets World," was supposed to be for young audiences between the ages of six to 11.

However, this demographic did not relate well to the show, thus resulting in "Girl Meets World" being ranked fifth among young viewers. The Rowan Blanchard starrer did better with the nine to 14 year old audiences since the topics discussed in the show are more relatable for them.

"Since Disney Channel is ad-supported, not getting enough traction in the target demos the network sells is a problem," the publication noted.

Meanwhile, the publication believes that Netflix is the streaming site that will most likely renew "Girl Meets World" for Season 5. After all, another classic TV show for decades ago, "Full House," was picked up by the streaming service. "Fuller House" was released on Feb. 26, 2016, and it has consistently been doing well.

However, series creator Michael Jacobs and Netflix have not yet confirmed or denied the allegations. The exec previously told TV Line that there are early talks for a renewal, and it is because of the audience's support.

Jacobs shared that the fans' paper airplane campaign, that they came up with on their own, has made an impact on some networks and streaming sites. "Networks want to do something to gather an audience. The fact that there is an audience who has been so loyal says a lot," he said.

In other news, the finale episode for "Girl Meets World" Season 4 will air on Friday, Jan. 20. "Girl Meets Goodbye" will focus on Topanga's (Danielle Fishel) decision to either accept a job opportunity in England or not.

"Girl Meets World" Season 4, episode 20 will air on Disney Channel on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. EST.
