Food manufacturer Kraft Foods recalled a total of 242,000 cases of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese due to the material found in the packaging.
According to CNBC, the boxes used in Kraft's Macaroni and Cheese may have contain metal. The food giant also said that a total of 6.5 million boxes were packed on the said defected cases.
Kraft also said that there were eight customers who have reported about the affected product, but no one had been injured. Included on the notice that Kraft has released was a warning for consumers not to consume the purchased product should not eat it.
The product affected by the recall is the originally flavored macaroni and cheese in the 7.25-ounce boxes that labeled with "use by date of September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015."
In addition, according to KSDK the defective boxes of the mac and cheese will bear the "C2" on the bottom. However craft stated that some of the boxes could be in multi-packs with varying codes.
The defective mac and cheese packaging is distributed in the U.S., Puerto Rico and some Caribbean and South American countries.
Last year, Kraft had recalled 1.2 million cases of cottage cheese products due to improper storage and another 260 cases of Velveeta cheese was made without the proper amount of preservatives. To add, they also recalled 7,700 cases of Kraft American Singles in August because of another storage issue.
Included on the official statement, Kraft extended their regret on the situation and apologizes to all consumers that they have disappointed.
