The second season of Demon Slayer is going to start early in December. However, before the anime dives into the Entertainment District Arc story, it will recap Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, the first feature-length film of the Shonen franchise.
While the TV series will use animation from the movie, which was the same studio's production, it will also add some new animation to explore the Arc further. The franchise has also now revealed the number of episodes that will make up Mugen Train's television version that will premiere on October 10.
The Mugen Train story involved Tanjiro and his co-Demon Slayer Corps members ride on a locomotive that was out of control, in an attempt to make contact with the Flame Hashira, Rengoku. Toward the end of the anime's first season, Tanjiro was able to use a new technique called fire breathing during the fight against the Spider Clan that allowed the demon hunter to defeat some of the most powerful demons he fought against in this premiere season.
The season also saw some major events occur within Mugen Train's walls that changed the life of Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko forever.
Demon Slayer's official Twitter account declared that there will be seven episodes for the Mugen Train arc in the television series. Six of the episodes will be re-cut from the movie's footage and one episode will be new that will dwell into the day before Tanjiro and his friends stepped aboard for the terrifying adventure.
Fans who have not seen the movie will be able to follow right after the first season without getting confused, and those who have watched the movie can appreciate the first episode of the re-debut as it will be new.
The franchise will get some major new characters during season two. Some of the characters that were introduced only briefly in Demon Slayer's first season will also be further explored, including the likes of Tengen Uzui, Sound Hashira.
Mugen Train's final events set Tanjiro and his friends on a brand new mission to explore Rengoku's family estate, where they are sure to meet more demons on the way that will necessitate the use of their swordsmanship skills.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc will premiere on December 5 at 11:15 pm JST with a one-hour special. The new anime season will stream on Funimation, which also streamed three of the earlier compilation specials in Japanese with an English dub as well as English subtitles.
