Lisa, a member of the South-Korean girls group BLACKPINK, has set a new record for K-pop solo artists on Spotify, which is the leading music streaming platform.
YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's agency, announced on October 18 KST that the singer's "Money" song achieved 100 million streams on Spotify today. The song, which is the B-side track of Lisa's recent solo-debut single album "LALISA", reached the milestone in only 37 days since its release on September 10.
"Money" has set the record for being the song that reached the fastest 100 million streams by a K-pop solo artist. Lisa's BLACKPINK co-member Rose previously held the record for solo single "On The Ground". The song had received 100 million streams in 71 days.
Before this, the record was held by yet another BLACKPINK member Jennie, whose song "Solo" reached 100 million in 125 days. At present, all three BLACKPINK members hold the top female K-pop solo artists on Spotify. "Money" is the 19th song from the k-pop girls group to reach 100 million streams.
Lisa has already had a landmark year in 2021 and the coming weeks could be massive for her on the American Billboard Charts. The singer and rapper has made history in some of the world's largest music markets, including the US, with her prowess as a solo star. Her debut solo single "Lalisa" became a fast-rising bestseller and positioned her in the Hot 100 for the first time without her fellow band members.
The next solo song "Money" from the same album also became a fan-favorite and it entered the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart. "Money" has already reached the main singles charts in places like the UK and Canada and could be on its way to the Hot 100 soon. The music video for the song has been performing superbly on YouTube.
Lisa is also a part of a new single by Latin superstar Ozuna that is going to release on October 22. The song, called "Sexy Girl", will also feature Megan Thee Stallion and DJ Snake. Ozuna first announced the joint single at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards last month.
DJ Snake had also shared a video teaser clip for the eagerly awaited collaboration last week. In the clip, he is seen going out of a building and getting into a vehicle with an "SXY GRL" license plate. Later, the camera pans across three parked cars with license plates that feature the names of Lisa, Ozuna, and Megan.
