Kai, a band member of the K-pop group EXO, held an online press conference on November 30 for the release of "Peaches", his new solo mini-album.
It is the singer's second solo release, which was dropped exactly one year after his solo debut in November 2020 with "KAI".
The K-pop artist said that he showed a deep and heavy image for his last solo release and with EXO. This time around, he wanted to show a cute, friendly, and sweet image. The aim was to hear things like he was more lovable than what the fans and the viewers thought.
According to the singer, it wasn't a relaxed process of production. It took time because he required constant evaluation to create a good album and good song.
The difficult part was the conflict between all the things he wanted to do and not having enough time. Kai had to go on negotiating what to make the main focus. The singer added that he achieved a balance between what he wanted to do and something new.
The K-pop star confided that he did not intend to make a comeback on his solo debut's anniversary. He feels that it was just yesterday that he released "KAI", but it has already been a year. However, that doesn't mean the new album is a commemoration of the old, it just took some time to get ready. The album contains songs that Kai selected over the whole year.
The South-Korean artist added that the concept for the entire new album revolves around peaches, and he wanted to express everything with this as the keyword. The word "peaches" is in the concept, song, and dance.
When the artist first heard the song, he could feel his imagination's wings take flight. The overall vibe and atmosphere and vibe of the track are what he really wants people to hear, Kai said.
The gentle and calm song also involves a lot of fun and powerful choreography. There are visuals of picking peaches, peach trees, etc.
Incidentally, the singer made an appearance in "New World", the new Netflix original variety show. EXO's Sehun, who hosted the press conference, added that he has seen Kai's variety shows and it is just the same as Kai in reality.
Meanwhile, Kai is getting ready for an online solo concert scheduled for December 12.
