Jean-Claude Van Damme and his wife of 15 years, Gladys Portugues, are officially heading for a divorce. Portugues is reportedly citing irreconcilable differences as the reason and is also asking for spousal support.
The former Ms. Olympia candidate and the 54-year-old “Expendables” star had actually been married the first time from 1987 to 1992. Now, they are going to get yet another divorce, which marks Van Damme's fifth divorce. He was previously married to Maria Rodriguez for four years but separated in 1984, and was married to Cynthia Derderian from 1985 to 1986.
Van Damme and Portugues tied the knot once again in 1999. The court documents indicate March 7 as the actual date of their separation. They have two adult children together, Kristopher and Bianca.
He fathered another child from his fourth wife, Darcy LaPier, having married each other in 1994. They had a song a year after. He had made headlines in 2012 when he revealed to The Guardian that he had cheated on LaPier back in 1994. According to his testimonies, he had an affair with his “Street Fighter” co-star, Kylie Minogue, while LaPier was still pregnant.
“It happened,” Van Damme said. “I was in Thailand. We had an affair – sweet kiss, beautiful lovemaking. It would be abnormal not to have had an affair. She was so beautiful and she was there in front of me every day. So, I showed her my Thailand.”
“I was shocked he would talk to the press about this all these years later to gain some notoriety,” LaPier shared to Fox News. “I did not know about it. I have had my feelings hurt and betrayed.”
Portugues was oftentimes spotted accompanying Van Damme during celebrity events, such as the 2008 Cannes International Film Festival, as well as the premiere of “The Expendables 2” in London back in 2012.
