Wrestlemania 31 has lived up to the flattery of being called the 'Grand Daddy of them all' in sports entertainment, producing the action, drama and jaw-dropping sequence wrestling fans are craving for from a huge sporting spectacle on Sunday at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Despite having the worst build-up in recent memory, WWE COO Triple H and owner Vince McMahon nailed it at the right place and at the right time as Wrestlemania 31 delivered the goods from start to finish, giving fans one of the most memorable main event matches in history.
Brock Lesnar, who decided to put his MMA days behind for good after signing a new contract with WWE, entered into his WWE World Championship showdown against Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns as the hands-down favorite to retain the title. Lesnar's hulk-liked physique and brute strength were simply too much for the former Shield mainstay, as the Beat Incarnate systematically put up a total beat-down on Reigns.
When Lesnar appeared to be on his way to an easy victory, the unexpected just came out of nowhere as Seth Rollins stormed into the squared circle and opportunistically cashed in his money in the bank for a shot at the gold. Rollins, who had been touted as the next face of the franchise, hit his finisher curb stomp on both Lesnar and Reigns before pinning the latter to fulfill the Authority's dream of domination in WWE.
Many critics, including former WWE announcer Jim Ross, gave high praises to the performances of the combatants but the unexpected finish really caught everybody off-guard, summing up an incredible night in Santa Clara.
Aside From Rollins ascendance as the top cog in WWE, Wrestlemania 31 also witnessed new Intercontinental and the United States Championship holders, as Daniel Bryan survived a seven ladder match carnage to win the Intercontinental gold while John Cena exacted his revenge to Russian grappler Rusev to win the US Championship after a long time.
