The conventional vertical boxes are now undergoing an overhaul and the new design prompts users to place it horizontally.
For the convenience of users, the remote's design has been modified with additional quick launch buttons including one to readily access Youtube while there's a dedicated button for Google Play. Earlier Roku 2 devices comes bundled with a standard earphone which will be discontinued in the new model.
Digital Spy reported that the company may have included hardware capabilities in the new Roku 2 and Roku 3 boxes. The function will be activated in the coming months so that they could support 4K video streaming later. The pricing has been confirmed by a retailer but it might slightly vary with specific regions.
The Roku streaming boxes is leading the race even though they have a tough competition from Google Chromecast and Apple TV in the home entertainment division.
