While Gmail introducing the all-new unified inbox for Android smartphones is not completely new, the company has took users by surprise as they have managed to bring all their exclusive features to third party accounts.
In the update that has been rolled out for Android devices, Google's Gmail allows users to unify their e-mail accounts. Users no longer have to open multiple apps or windows to check their messages. Instead, they can bring both their Gmail as well as Yahoo, Outlook or AOL accounts to the app same interface.The messages will be neatly stacked within the Android app and can be accessed anytime. While this service is being offered by multiple service providers including Apple's own e-mail client, Gmail stands apart in some exclusive features.
Most users are accustomed to the conversation view in the e-mail client which stacks up messages that are part of the same conversation together. The exclusive feature will now be added to third party accounts as well to make the inbox clutter free, according to Wired.
The developers have also added auto complete features which is highly precise in Gmail and have integrated a powerful search engine that will let users find any messages, from any e-mail client without having to login individually to every account.
At the moment, the update has been rolled out to Android users. Google didn't confirm when it plans to release these features for iOS and other platforms.
The new update also adds larger preview window so that attachments can be viewed without opening the message and the ability to upload documents to Google drive for future reference, reports Tech Crunch.
