Few more months before the anticipated seventh installment of the science fiction film "Star Wars" and its spin-off film "Star Wars: Rogue One" is getting some fresh rumors.
The first film that will link the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to its predecessors is to be starred by Ben Mendelsohn together with Felicity Jones, as per Deadline.
Born in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia, Mendelsohn is known for his roles in various films such as "The Dark Knight Rises" (2012), "Killing Them Softly" (2012), "The Place Beyond the Pines" (2012), "Exodus: Gods and Kings" (2014) and "Black Sea" (2014). In addition, the actor's projects for this year include "Slow West," "Mississippi Grind," "Bloodline," and "The Adventures of Beatle."
Mendelsohn spoke his thoughts on his attachment to the film in his interview with Entertainment Weekly.
When the actor was asked to talk about his rumored inclusion in the spin-off film, he said that he was uncertain about the issue, though it sounded great. The actor also revealed his love of the franchise since his youth as he owned a whole set of trading cards when he was a kid. For the actor, the "Star Wars" movie was "enormously important" and a "true cinema magic." He also expressed his desire to be Han Solo, going out with Princess Leia.
Mendelsohn also commended Luke and Han Solo in terms of their traits. For the actor, Luke is better morally while Han Solo has more appeal. In terms of general abilities, he would go for Luke, since there is a strong force with him.
The seventh film installment "The Force Awakens" stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison ford, Peter Meyhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, and Max von Sydow.
J.J. Abrams is set to helm the film, together with Kathleen Kennedy as his co-producer. Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas are set to pen the film script.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is slated to premiere in theaters on Dec. 18 while "Star Wars: Rogue One" is set to hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
