After an off-set accident that took place last early part of March, Depp had to have a pin insertion procedure involving his little finger, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The actor went back to the United States last March 10 for a hand surgery. According to the producers, the incident will put a "minimal impact" to the shoot; however, the production has to adjust for four more weeks after the surgical procedure and can continue depending on Depp's recovery. This entails that less than fifty percent of the present crew has to wait for a moment until the filming resumes. Moreover, the production crew and staffs is reported to have fourteen weeks remaining for filming, which is assumed to resume on Apr. 15.

The plot of the upcoming film centers on Captain Sparrow's quest in finding the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which gives him full governance over the seas, as per Cinema Blend. In addition, the quest includes their survival from Captain Salazar, who plans to terminate his rival pirates.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is an upcoming action adventure film, based on Disney's park ride of the same name. It is set in a fictional world managed by a merger of the British Empire and the East India Company.

Along with Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, the film also stars Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Brenton Thwaites as Henry, Orlando Bloom as Will turner, Stephen Graham as Scrum, Adam Brown as Jib, Kevin McNally as Gibbs, and Martin Klebba as Marty.

Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are set to helm the film, along with Jerry Bruckheimer and Barry Waldman as their co-producers. Ted Elliot, Stuart Beattie, Jeff Nathanson, and Jay Wolpert are set to pen the film script. The film is to be produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. It will be produced by Walt Disney Studios and Motion Pictures.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to premiere in theaters on Jul. 7, 2017.
