"Teen Wolf" series creator Jeff Davis revealed to MTV that actor Tyler Hoechlin approached him a couple of months ago to talk about his exciting and scary experience of filming an indie baseball film. Then, Jeff Davis asked Tyler Hoechlin if he was ready to move on from "Teen Wolf."

"He said he felt like he was at a point in his career where he wanted to try new things, things that scare him," Davis revealed. Even though Tyler Hoechlin wants to try new things, Jeff Davis added the 27-year-old actor is not yet ready to let go of his "Teen Wolf" family.

According to Hollywood Life, Jeff Davis shared during the "Teen Wolf" panel held at the PaleyFest last March 11 that he talked to the network about Tyler Hoechlin's plans. The series creator revealed they have creatively decided it was a good time to have the focus again on the teens in "Teen Wolf" Season 5.

However, the "Teen Wolf" fans should not be alarmed because there is still a possibility for Tyler Hoechlin to return as Derek Hale in the MTV series. Jeff Davis shared that Tyler Hoechlin talked to him a couple of weeks ago about the possible storylines for his werewolf character Derek Hale in "Teen Wolf" Season 5.

Derek evolved into a new form that allows him to shift into a full wolf in the "Teen Wolf" Season 4 finale episode titled "Smoke and Mirrors." Derek also found out that Braeden (Meagan Tandy), his love interest, is a U.S. Marshall fired from becoming too obsessed with her target called "The Desert Wolf."

Jeff Davis admitted it is never easy to let go of a series regular but the decision comes from a place of respect because artists need to try new things. Jeff Davis further added that he is looking forward to see Tyler Hoechlin's new characters in his upcoming movie projects and also have the actor back on the "Teen Wolf" set.

"Teen Wolf" Season 5 will premiere in June on MTV.
