Samsung has done well with their smartphone Galaxy S6 with the use of the advanced microprocessor Exynos delivering a boost to the company's chip distribution according to the Design & Trend news report. The Exynos microprocessors which were developed for Samsung internally was the best move Samsung made rather than using Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips.  It has given Samsung the edge to market and sell Galaxy S6 devices.

The report also said that with the excellent performance of Exynos, Samsung is believed to be manufacturing the said chips for their competitor Apple iPhones. With the negotiations still under wraps, Samsung will be making the A9 microprocessor chips for the next iPhone and this will be done at the South Korean plant.

Samsung has been producing chips with the 14 or 16 nanometer transistors which Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has been making.  The rival companies have been successful with the transistor chips since it has smaller gaps.  The semiconductors believe that the smaller the gap makes the chip more powerful.

Analyst Mark Newman from Hong Kong Bernstein Research was right in predicting back in January that Samsung will be the winner in having the contract to produce the chips for Apple.  The new chips will replace the 20 nanometer chips powering the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Newman even said that he chose Samsung on his prediction over TSMC since the latter declined the contract to manufacture the said chips for Apple due to lack of time, as reported by HeraldSun.

Although TSMC has not yet conceded to a new contract to mass produce the new chips which will allow Samsung to get more of the sales.  TSMC will still manufacture some of the orders but will get a bigger share in 2016.
