It was found that several facial procedures, such as chin implants, eye lifts and full facelifts, can significantly boost the way a woman is perceived by others. The study showed that having a facelift makes a woman more attractive, feminine and likeable to others.

Dr. Michael Reilly, the study author, said that one of the goals of this study was to figure out in an  accurate way what others are really seeing when they see the outcomes of facial plastic surgery. Reilly further said that the reactions were very positive.

Researchers focused on 30 white women who had undergone undergone one of the following procedures; neck lifts, eyebrow lifts, lower and upper eyelifts, chin implants and facelifts.

The research involved taking before-and-after photos of each woman and then gauging  responses from 170 people. Scientists asked people to rate their perception of the women's personality traits, femininity, and attractiveness for every picture they reviewed. None of the reviewers knew the patients or their plastic surgery history. Researchers also observed a trend toward trustworthiness, Philly reported.

According to Professor Reilly, lower eye lifts garnered the most positive responses from viewers. A lower eye lift is performed to remove under eye bags to correct wrinkles. Face lifts led to the second best reviews after surgery. A face lift is performed to remove baggy skin around the jaw line, mouth and eyes and also to reduce wrinkles and lines and smooth the skin.bAlso, reviewers rated some patients for increased risk-taking and aggressiveness after surgery.

Dr. Samuel Lam, a facial plastic surgeon in Dallas, said that people should not seek plastic surgery thinking it will make them happy.

He further said that people go perhaps to enhance their confidence and self-esteem and to make themselves feel more socially integrated. However, if they are sad inside, they are not going to have surgery and become happy, no matter how others perceive them from the outside.
