To win back the vanishing customers, McDonald's menu will include the bigger burgers, the third-pounds, for a limited time. The $4.99 large ones will be called the Sirloin burgers.

It is Sirloin Third Pound, to be exact.

Meanwhile, Wendy's is testing a Jalapeno Fresco Spicy Chicken priced $5.49. The bigger burger competition is really heating up.

The Sirloin burger was launched by McDonald's in Australia Last October. It had a line of salads and wraps with sirloin, known as rump steak in Australia.

The burgers will have three types: Lettuce & Tomato, Bacon & Cheese and Steakhouse.

The Steakhouse comes with grilled mushrooms, onions, white cheddar and peppercorn sauce. But, what makes it special is the beef seasoning, unavailable in any other offering, according to The Huffington Post.

The Sirloin Third Pounds will be the biggest sandwiches on McDonald's menu. It is a near-100-percent repetition of the Angus Third Pounds, which were dropped from the menu in 2013.

The analysts predicted that the high price was the reason for the failure of Angus Third Pounds.

Although McDonald has mentioned that the price will be around $5, the franchisees will have the freedom to set their own prices.

The sales in McDonald's US have plummeted for the second year in a row and the restaurant is beefing up its initiatives to turn that around.

In a series of changes the restaurant has decided to diminish the ingredients' number in its grilled chicken. The chain is also using less-antibiotic in its chickens, according to Consumerist.

McDonald's also announced that it will give a pay hike to employees directly employed by it, rather than the ones employed by the franchisees.

After the Angus Third Pounders, McDonald's menu has had the Double Quarter Pounders. These were the only big-appetite burgers on its menu.

The company said that this time, the bigger burgers will be crunchier, tastier and more aesthetic in terms of looks.

The beef for the Sirloin Third Pounders will be sourced completely from North America. The burgers will be available in restaurants later this month.

Meanwhile, the NYTriState co-op has tweeted burger-arrival on menus already.
