"Game Of Thrones" (GOT) fans should read this as the producers of the show revealed how long do they plan to keep the show going.
In an interview with Variety, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss shared that they would like the show to go on for four more years but they would not like to stretch and extend it just because they want to make money off of it. Benioff pointed out that they will be betraying the people if they did that so it might end sooner than what everyone expects.
Weiss and Benioff added that if the show continues much longer than what the books suggest, the framework will no longer be followed. The producers added that they have constant conversations with the author of the book, George R.R. Martin, and that he makes a lot of things up while he is writing the remaining books and they revealed that sometimes, the ending is different than what they first talked about.
Weiss and Benioff cited an example saying that it's like when a person goes to a party and everyone he likes is there but it's getting late and he has to go home. However, his friends won't let him and he drinks another party then it's suddenly 6:30 in the morning and he wakes up covered in his own feces. Weiss and Benioff pointed out that ending GOT the same way they don't want to wake up covered in feces is their plan.
The producers revealed that season six might be the last but they still have no definitive answer about this. They did reveal that they already started writing for the episode of the upcoming season and they are thinking it's already the home stretch.
Meanwhile, the Season 5 premiere was just launched on Sunday via HBO but there were fans who were able to watch it before the show was aired legally because they were able to stream it online using their Periscope accounts. HBO is very much aware of this and a representative for the company told Hollywood Reporter that they feel copyright infringement should be proactive in order to prevent such from happening again.
